Starting Your Fitness Journey: Tips for Success

Tips on How to Start your Fitness Journey

We’ve all been there, feeling the urge to work out but struggling to find the time or motivation. So, what can you do about it? My advice: GO!

Whenever I’m feeling off or less motivated to work out, I typically find myself doing one of two things:

  1. Finding 101 other things to do to procrastinate working out.
  2. Actually working out.

If you’re like me and have a hard time sitting still, you understand the dilemma. When you set your mind on something, it’s essential to get it done. However, sometimes you might find yourself doing anything but working out, convincing yourself you’ll go tomorrow. Tomorrow turns into three days off, and you start to wonder how to stay consistent. That’s where the “just GO” mindset comes in.

When you’ve made up your mind to do something, executing it is crucial. Why? Because your mindset matters. The promises and goals you set for yourself are significant and deserve your utmost attention. I’m not suggesting you push your limits relentlessly, but I do encourage you to follow through on what you’ve committed to. Give yourself a break and find peace in honouring your commitments.

For those who work out, you understand the mantra: consistency is key. Whether you’re pursuing physical, mental, or financial goals, consistency is the foundation. When you’re consistent, you set your goals in motion and pave the way to achieve what and where you want to be. I’ve emphasized the importance of consistency in previous blog posts. It also underscores treating your mind and body with respect and recognizing their interconnectedness.

Recently, I found myself falling off the fitness wagon. I thought, how could I write about the power of mindset and consistency if I wasn’t applying it in my own life? When I procrastinate working out by finding other tasks to occupy my time, I’m doing a disservice to myself. Now, I just GO, as Nike suggests – I “just do it.” I’ve discovered that working out consistently provides the focus, energy, and peace I seek daily. When time is tight, I opt for full-body circuits, a versatile choice for both home and gym workouts.

By embracing the “just GO” mentality, you’ll find yourself on the path to fitness success. Remember, consistency is the key that unlocks the door to your goals. So, lace up those sneakers, take the first step, and keep moving forward – because your body and mind deserve the best.
